The Empty Chair

Meet your New Partner

Every technology can be thought of as a tool. Computer is a tool, mobile phone is a tool, social network is a tool, internet is a tool. A hammer doesn't care if you hit your thumb. A computer doesn't care if your spreadsheet is boring. Tools are indifferent. They just wait.

But a partner? A partner has your back. A partner notices when you're stuck. For the first time, you aren't working alone.

AI is not just a tool, it’s a thought partner. It's a creative partner. It's an execution partner. AI can help you think, create and do.

This is the biggest mental shift for us to understand.

Historically, only a human has been a thought partner to another human. Only a human has been a creative partner to another human. On 'doing' stuff, human can dictate a machine to do stuff, but machine is still a 'dumb' instruction follower, not a true execution partner.

For the first time in human history, we have a non-human thought partner, a creative partner and an execution partner.

Engage with AI like you engage with another human being. Every human has strengths and weaknesses, so does AI.

Once you shift that mindset, it just opens your mind to a world of possibilities.

AI as a Thought Partner

"It’s 4 PM. You’re staring at a sales deck that isn't landing. You’re tired. Usually, you’d just send it and hope for the best. Now? You turn to the 'chair - AI.' You ask: 'Be mean. Why would a CEO reject this?'"

We deal with questions all day. Some are simple. Some are complex.

  • Where should I eat lunch?
  • How do I give better feedback to my team?
  • How do I run this sales opportunity to win the deal?

Usually, we solve these alone or talk to a friend or a colleague. Now, you have a new option. Think of AI as your permanent brainstorming partner. It won't give you "the" final answer, but it will give you a better way to think about the problem.

AI as a Creative Partner

The blank page is a monster. It stops you before you start. Your creative partner kills the monster. It gives you a draft. It’s not perfect, but it’s real. Now you’re an editor, not a victim of writer’s block.

We all like to create. Whether it’s a blog, a video, or just a clear email. We have tools for this, but tools are passive.

Imagine having a fellow poet or blogger sitting next to you. Someone to help with ideas, format, and flow. Someone to review your work and make it sharper. That is AI today. It’s not just a digital canvas; it’s a co-creator.

AI as an Execution Partner

You have a goal. You don't want to spend two hours on the 'how.' You tell your partner: 'I need this data in a table by Monday.' They don't ask for step-by-step instructions. They just do it.

Software is good at doing what it's told. But you usually have to provide the exact, step-by-step logic. AI is different.

It can figure out the sequence for you. We call these "AI agents." They don't just follow rules; they work toward a goal. You provide the destination. The AI handles the execution. You finally have a partner who actually gets things done.

The Empty Chair

Imagine a chair next to your desk.

Someone is sitting there. They are brilliant. They are creative. They never sleep. They don't get bored.

When you hit a wall, you don't Google it. You talk to the chair.

When you need a draft, the chair writes it.

When you have a boring task, the chair does it.

Stop working in a vacuum. Start the conversation. The seat is already taken—you just have to start talking.
